WHY SAUVEYO INC

Why Sauveyo Inc.
The Transformation of Mizik FM Inc. into Sauveyo Inc. A Legacy of Love, Loss, and Community Resilience

By Sony Sauveur

For more than two decades, Mizik FM Inc. stood as a pillar in Brooklyn’s Haitian American community, advocating for education, mental health awareness, and youth development through the Open Mind Project. I founded the organization in 2000, and it was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit & Tax Exempt in 2018. Our mission was always clear: to uplift, educate, and empower.

But in February 2022, my life was forever changed.

On February 12, 2022, my beloved 17-year-old son, Terah, was killed instantly by a teenage driver under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Just six days later, on February 18, my mother my foundation and source of strength passed away at age 74, overwhelmed by the devastating news of her grandson’s death. Losing two of the most important people in my life in one week created an unbearable void, one that can never be replaced.

SAUVEYO: A Name Born of Pain and Hope

During this period of immense grief, friends, artists, and my community surrounded me with love and support. Among them, Gazman Couleur, lead singer of Disip, visited New York to stand with me during my son’s repast and funeral. In our conversation, he spoke the word “Sauveyo”, which means “Save Them.” The name resonated deeply within me it was not just a word, but a calling.

Out of this heartbreak, I found the strength to transform Mizik FM Inc. into SAUVEYO Inc. on March 21, 2025. The new name carries profound spiritual meaning:
“Sauveyo” means “Save Them” a call to action, a tribute, and a commitment to protect and uplift others.
It honors the unfinished life of my son and the eternal wisdom and strength of my mother.
It represents the pain of countless families who have faced loss, trauma, and silent struggles.
What began as a personal tragedy has become a renewed mission of resilience, healing, and service. With Sauveyo Inc., I am committed to transforming pain into purpose and grief into hope building programs that prevent tragedy, create safe spaces, and empower the next generation to rise above adversity.

Our Commitment Going Forward

We created Sauveyo Inc. not just as an organization, but as a movement. It exists to educate and protect youth, to prevent the destructive cycles of drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse, gun violence, and mental health crises.
Yes, from this darkness came a name and a mission: “Sauveyo” Save Them. It is a cry of grief, a promise to protect, and a commitment to turn personal loss into a lifeline for others.
Through Sauveyo Inc., we fight to prevent the tragedies of gun violence, drugs and alcohol, sexual abuse, and mental health struggles, so that no parent, no family, and no community has to suffer the way I did.

Together with determination, unity, and love we will continue to guide and educate young people, who are the hope of tomorrow.
